Judge Judy is not my favorite daytime show.

There’s a nasty, nasty bug going around this little vineyard town …

… and it has come to visit
me.  Lucky, lucky me.  I’m coughing everywhere, my tummy hurts from
the effort, my chest hurts, my ears hurt, my throat’s sore (you’re SO glad you’re
reading this, huh??) and I’m wondering when you should see a doctor for this
type of stuff.  What’s being whimpy and
when it is truly time?  Huh.  And I haven’t been able to do step aerobics
or yoga or my core class in days.
Whimper.

I know I must be bored because I’m
going to attempt to post this blog downstairs – where the internet connection
is weak and it might post 50 times.  Ah
well.  Not the worst thing that could
happen!  I’m never sure why my internet
has no problem with myspace or facebook or hotmail, but msn spaces … the two
are just NOT bff.

Things have been going so amazing
well lately, I can’t believe it.  Eight
months later, I’m finally starting to breathe again … and breathe deeply.  Well.
Right now there’s a lot of Vick’s VapoRub helping me do that, but you
know.  Just in general.

I’ve started teaching kids’
church again and Holy Cow!  Do I LOVE
kids’ randomness or what?  During our
last discussion of Prov. 16:16, little cutie Kylar leaped up from his spot on
the floor, waving his hand frantically to let us know that the piece if colored
tape he was sitting on matched his bright yellow rain boots perfectly!  O, the wonders!  Depending on how long this single thing
lasts, I may just adopt on my own!
Maybe.  What’s that you say?  Raising kids is a lot harder than teaching
kids’ church for a couple hours during the week?  Seriously?
I had no idea! ;) (I say tongue in cheek …)

What else?

Last week, before the onset of
the radioactive, super powered nasty bug, we had our all girls skiing trip at
work.  Wa Hooooooo!  Being a girl in corrections is always an
interesting thing – which is an observation and not a complaint.  We implemented our own all girls (snort – that’s
a whole 4 females out of a 15 person staff) skiing trip.  We did NOT invite the boys because the boys
do NOT invite the girls to go paintballing or hunting or to take part in
fantasy football.  Funny, but all those
things just have the numbers filled out perfectly, and adding more people will
just mess EVERYTHING up.  Last year was
my first time ever.  This year was so
much better.  It has snowed 30 (yes, 30!)
inches the night before, and even though it was a little cold and windy, it was
fantastic.  I only fell a few times and
actually went faster than a turtle.  And,
this is such a MAJOR accomplishment for me, I only fell getting off the lift
once – I hadn’t scooted far enough up to the edge and had to do this amazingly
dork hoppy, jumpy little thing to avoid riding the lift back down.  I keep being promised pictures, but that will
probably take a while ….  It was SO
fantastic that we’re thinking about doing another supplemental trip and
inviting the boys … but we’ll see.

Ok.  I should probably walk around and visit some
blogs, being that I’m such a fantastic, proactive blogger and everything …. ;)

Ah, skiing.  The best snow in YEARS (as Allen keeps reminding me) and we won\’t see any of it this year because of his neck surgery.  Poo.

I miss you!  I haven\’t read your comment yet, but I saw that there was one so I am going to go read it now :)

  2. that girl says:

Yes that stupid groundhog saw his shadow (Feb 2 is groundhog day by the way).  Stupid stupid stupid snow.  We are at like 60+ inches at this point and I am SO SICK SICK SICK of it.  The Boxer, who was born in Hawaii, HATES the snow as a rule.  Every now and then she will take a romp but for the most part she runs out and does her thing and runs in and does a jig that she is back in and warm again.

Your illness.  I had it too.  After a week I went to the doctor and got some meds.  7 days of green goo coming out of my orafices was enough for me.  After 7 days you should be better.  Poor baby.  I know just how you feel!!

You guys are having some INTERESTING weather down there!!

  3. Jungle Mama says:

So I see that you understand the whole illness scene.  Yes, it is very hard to deal with illness and being a mother all at the same time, but I have to say having the father around makes a world of difference.  The poor man was so thankful he wasn\’t a single father ;)   He practically worships the ground I walk on now that I\’m finally on antibiotics.

Skiing!!  Oh, man do I ever miss that!  Here we are so close to the alps and we haven\’t yet gone.  Another "kid pitfall".  With a baby I just don\’t feel like spending all that money to sit in the lodge.  Can you blame me?  Before long they\’ll all be old enough to ski themselves and then it will get really fun.

Hope you\’re feeling better soon, dear.  I\’m so glad to hear you\’re "breathing".

  4. fotosh says:

thanks for visiting  . i am busy and still have to do it  .. shi ….

  5. Tuan says:

Haha, yeah, thanks for the wish and happy Tet to you too,… who cares LOL!!!
I realize there are some blog entries of yours that I havent read yet. I probably come back for that soon after Tet.
Anyways, glad to hear from you Lisa.
    Warmest wishes.

  6. Fairlight says:

Hi Lisa,I\’m sorry your not feeling good. Nasty nasty bug! I hope you are getting lots of rest, staying warm, and drinking lots of tea.:)But, I am so glad that you stopped by. I don\’t do much on MSN Spaces anymore. I\’ve unofficially (without announcement) moved to Blogger. There is much more and interesting stuff going on that blog. :) Here\’s the link. http://www.polkadottree.blogspot.comThe ski trip sounds like fun. I\’ve never been, but everyone keeps telling me it is. It will probably be a few years before I  make it to the slopes though.Kids are great, the greatest joy and if you want to adopt, go for it! I can\’t imagine my life without them. Drop by my other blog for some up to date pictures and goings-ons. :) Love to you!Fairlight

  7. t i m says:

I went skiing in a makeshift ski slope @ my local mall last December. Not the same thing I know as it very rarely snows outside but fun nonetheless.Hope the nasty bug has disappeared by now.

  8. meg says:

I feel your pain literally; after 3 1/2 days home, unable to read because of the headache, I have decided that daytime programming must be run by pre-adolescent howler monkeys- what drivel!

  9. fotosh says:

I am sorry you are needing hot teas .. here is one for you .. just seen paulettes space and  gave her a not from me ..get better in your time  love andrea

  10. that girl says:

OOOOOOOO it\’s such a pretty dress.  Kind of daring in the front, but not too bad, lol.

It is warming here too, but definately not spring like.  It looks like Allen will be staying at Gonzaga by the way.  They have been talking to him about working as a director in Student Life.  They really love him there and want him to stay on in the administration after he retires.  I will keep you posted.  Who knows.  It could all turn around on a dime.  But I don\’t think we can afford to sell our house at this point and move, that much I do know.  We would be on the losing end of that proposition.  One thing I DO know is that I plan on going back to school in the fall (YAY!) to complete my RN so that is highly exciting.  It\’s actually not a plan.  It\’s going to happen.  I can\’t wait.  I will keep you posted as things develop!!

Miss you!  If it keeps warming up down there I might have to escape during spring break or something!

  11. Jorge says:

    Happy Valentine\’s Day!
    J.

  12. PAULETTE says:

I\’m so glad to hear that you\’re not only still breathing Lisa, but breathing deeply…and skiing and laughing and still blessing others, and even more importantly that you\’re returning to TDC–Top Dead Center (an automotive term, one often used in combination with a string of expletives when the shade-tree mechanic trying to find "it," can\’t).  Although you\’re not a car, and are one of the most alive people I "know", I had no doubt that you would come through the darkness and return to the light because your TDC is Christ.  As long as we can cling (no matter how tenuously, or no matter desperately) to Him at the center of our beings, He will not only get us through the long bleak nights (and days) of our souls, He will surely usher us, once again, into the beautious light.  What a blessing you are to us Lisa!

  13. Gail says:

I\’m writing this just a tad to late but I wanted to stop in and thank you for visiting and leaving such warm comments too.. Sorry to hear you weren\’t feeling well a few weeks ago and that was around the same time I caught "The nasty bugger" myself.. So I felt your misery as well hun.. Besides that, I wanted to tell you I\’m happy all is going well with you and you seem to be very content. :) Stay well,Gail

  14. Jorge says:

I hope your nasty bug is history by now, and you are able to get ready for the coming Spring :-) Be well,j.

  15. Jorge says:

    It\’s been a while.
Happy Easter to you and yours,
    J.

  16. t i m says:

Calling. Lisa. Where are you? Lisa. :)

  17. PAULETTE says:

Yo—Lisa!  The Columbia River to Lisa–come in please.  O\’, yoooooooou-hoooo?
