Welcome.
There’s just a few things that may be helpful to know. And I’mm super big on making sure people have appropriate background knowledge. You’re smart and you’ll notice that these posts are old.
This blog was originally called Halal Home (Halal = Hebrew for praise) and lived at MSN Spaces. MSN Spaces, however, decided to not exist anymore and offered it’s users a migration over to WordPress.
It was a difficult decision to make. Most of this blog details the life I lead with a Former Husband and the work I had done in a Juvenile Detention Facility. Married, working on having a baby, working on getting out of social work and into teaching.
What can I say? Life happened. Former Husband and I divorced and I couldn’t bring myself to start the MTE program I had been accepted in to. Enter a position change at the Juvenile Justice Center (I started supervising a Guardian Ad Litem Program) and eventually a move from the Vineyard Town to Portland so I could enter an MSW program. (I did go through the old blog and remove specific pictures and posts. The formatting is slightly off in the new version, but I am much, much too busy to reformat every post).
That’s where I am now.
And it’s happy. It’s a happy life.
I’m in my 2nd of 3 years at Portland State in my pursuit of a Master’s of Social Work. My newish darling partner of 2 years goes by the name “Shoes”, as he still works in the Vineyard Town as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and would like some sense of anonymity.
And the rest?

The beauty is in the re-write, and I’m privileged to be able to re-write my life.
